I write about sight, trust, and transformation

I help people see themselves clearly - and recognise who they are becoming.

Essays

For years, I was my grandmother’s eyes-learning that seeing for someone else means understanding what matters to them. That lesson didn’t fade when I left her hands. It followed me across every sea I sailed, and now it shapes everything I do: how I write, how I look, how I work with people.

Writing clarifies thinking. It forces you to say exactly what you mean. When you sit down to write about something, you discover what you actually believe about it. You can’t hide behind good intentions or vague gestures. the words either land, or they don’t.

The Four Pillars

My essays explore four connected territories that shape my thinking.

Mediterranean Art History - Why do we return to the same stories, images, and light? The Mediterranean as a lens on beauty, meaning, and the discipline of seeing?

Waters & Maritime Knowledge - The sea as a thinking space - navigation, tradition, and the relationship between water and perception. How we read signs, trust instruments and orient ourselves.

Celestial Navigation & Observation - Looking up. Reading the sky. Using stars to find your way. A study in deep attention and disciplined observation.

Studio Ritual & The Cultivated Life - Creating the conditions for thought. Not inspiration, but ritual - the daily practices that hold and shape meaningful work.

Photography as Research

I research through photography. I’ve worked with authors, brands, and people re-writing their stories. That visual practice informs everything I write.

A camera teaches you to see. It’s a discipline. When you photograph something, you’re asking questions: What matters in the frame? What is being revealed? How does this moment connect to the larger story?

Photography isn’t decoration for my essays. It’s how I do my thinking. The discipline of composition, the precision of seeing, and patience - these are the same skills that writing requires.

This practice is built through photography and writing.

It moves between observation and reflection, returning to the same questions: how we see, how we orient, and how meaning takes shape over time.

What This Practice Is

I work through photography and writing as a single research practice. My work explores Mediterranean art history, maritime knowledge, celestial navigation, and studio ritual as ways of thinking, seeing and making.

Alongside my essays and visual work, I collaborate with authors, brands, and individuals developing narrative and visual projects grounded in depth, observation, and story.

Because Observation Is Trust - Whether I’m writing or photographing, the work is the same: to see something as it is, and help others see it clearly too.
